What do you need my words to do for you?

Do you have an idea for a blog but every time you put pen to paper something else crops up? Maybe you need to write an article but the words are still looking for the light switch in the dark? Or perhaps your website is a bit sad and tired, and is mumbling to itself in a corner?

Let me at it [cracks knuckles, leans in]!

What I can do for you

Copywriting

Blogs, web copy, social media posts, flyers etc.

If you’re selling toxic treats to toddlers, I’m out. If you run a campaign to ban Doc boots in the workplace, dare I say, I’m not a good fit. I don’t have it in me to tout questionable claptrap just to fill my portfolio. I write to make connections, so it’s important to me that we share the same sort of values. Who’s with me?!

If you want to appeal to real-life human beings, your copy has to be genuine, interesting, lively and useful, written by a real-life human being who cares for their client and takes care with their words (me, that’s me!). If your business's content connects with people and you can solve their problem, your service or product will sell itself. Because who really wants to read pages of loud superlatives and overpromising pitches?

I want to help you solve your problems, getting your message heard above your competitors’. So what problem can I help you solve?

I write in a tone and style that suits you, that reflects your business, that you’ll be proud of. And in a voice that will be heard by the people who matter - the clients you want to attract.

I get to know you and your business, service/product and target market thoroughly to find out what’s at the heart of what you do and what you want. What connects it all. And strong SEO and conversion rate style is woven neatly into the natural flow of all the text I write for you, so your customers won’t feel they’re being barked at by a mastiff with a megaphone.

Content writing

Articles, blogs, books etc.

If copywriting is mostly about words connecting people to stuff (products and services), content writing is all about words spreading stuff! Ideas, knowledge, information.

So if you’ve got some whizzbang ideas or must-have information to share, but perhaps no time or inclination to write it all down, leave it to me. I love creating a logical flow from a knot of notes and can’t wait to get your ideas down in some cogent, clear and entertaining content.

Whether you want your piece to be formal, informative, and educational or chatty, light-hearted, and fun (or a bit of everything!), I write engaging, clear content that’s lively and honest.

Content development and editing

So you wrote some content late one night but it wasn't the jaw-dropping masterpiece it first seemed through caffeine-filtered eyes? Maybe your old website content needs a little make-over to appeal to your increasingly sassy audience? Or perhaps you're a bit wobbly on semi-colon placement and don't know your hyphens from your en-rules? I love all that stuff - give it to me!

I have been a professional copy and development editor for nearly 20 years. You’re in safe hands.

How it works

  • We talk about it

We arrange a chat to talk about your project or get it all down in an email conversation. From this, I’ll find out a bit more about your business and what you’re working on and we can figure out which of my services best meets your needs.

  • I quote for it

Once I know what you need, I send you an initial quote. If you’re happy with it and want to go ahead, I send you a bit of paperwork to get into some nitty-gritty. This will include:

    • a draft outline of the job (confirming what we discussed re format, length, tone, aim etc plus my ideas for content, layout and structure)

    • my fee for the project

    • my terms and conditions

    • the anticipated timescale

And once you’ve reviewed this document and checked it’s all hunky dory, you sign it and return it to me. When I’ve received your signed docs and a first payment of 25% of the fee, the job is underway!

  • I write it

Boom! Just like that. Well, that’s how it might feel to you!

  • We perfect it

The fee includes a couple of reviews in case you want to make any minor additions and tweaks before you sign it off.

  • It's all yours

Once you’ve signed off the copy and paid the final invoice, it’s all yours!
